Answers to Your Questions
What is Seton Cares?
Seton Cares is an annual giving campaign for Seton associates. It's a way to support areas within the Seton Healthcare Family as well as a select list of community non-profits. At Seton, you help people in need every day, and this is one more way to extend a helping hand.
What are the campaign dates?
The official campaign runs every year from Nov. 15 through Dec. 31, but you may donate any time throughout the year.
Who benefits from donations?
Thanks to the Seton Cares campaign, nurses receive scholarships from the Seton Nurse Scholarship Endowment, your most vulnerable neighbors receive treatment for illnesses such as cancer and diabetes, and some of your most worthy area non-profits receive an extra boost.
Will Seton match gifts to the Seton Nurse Scholarship Endowment again this year?
Yes, the Seton Family of Hospitals will once again match gifts to the endowment through Seton Cares, up to a total of $100,000.
How do I donate?
Donate online at www.SetonCares.org or by filling out the pledge card that you should have received in your packet. Donations may be made by credit card or payroll deduction. If you would like to donate cash, contact MarrGwen Dickson, campaign coordinator, at x45903 or mdickson@seton.org. You may make a one-time donation, or give through payroll deduction.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes.
What are my options for payroll deduction?
Payroll deduction options begin the first pay period of 2011. You have the option for one-time payroll deduction, or for each of the 26 pay periods in 2011.
Can I give PTO?
Currently, Seton doesn't offer PTO as a giving option because of Federal tax rules.
Why are some community non-profit organizations included?
When United Way changed its fundraising model, we knew that our associates would still want to make gifts to area non-profits. We are not able to set up every area non-profit for our payment methods, so through a committee led by Ashton Cumberbatch, Seton selects three to five area non-profits each year. These organizations have a health care mission, serve the same area served by the Seton Family of Hospitals, and currently serve associates and/or their families in some capacity. The three area United Ways are also options for donation.
Why can’t I give to an external beneficiary on this website using credit card?
Seton's four foundations are not able to process credit card gifts that are to be forwarded to other foundations. You may give directly to the external beneficiaries on this site through payroll deduction—either one time, or each pay period in 2011. If you would like to give to an external beneficiary by credit card, click on the link to go directly to their site.
What if I am in a multi-year pledge and want to make changes?
To make a change to an already existing pledge, contact MarrGwen Dickson in the Seton Foundations Office, at x45903 or mdickson@seton.org.
How do I find out what I gave last year or in years past?
Contact MarrGwen Dickson in the Seton Foundations office at x45903 or mdickson@seton.org.
What is a volunteer Site Champion?
Site Champions are volunteers for the Seton Cares campaign and are located at most of our facilities. They are Seton associates who help with the campaign by arranging simple and fun events, schedule Seton Cares speakers at meetings, or post flyers and table tents.
How can I be a volunteer Site Champion?
If you or someone you know would like to be a Site Champion, contact Bridget Glaser at the Seton Foundations Offices, x45905 or bglaser@seton.org.
